The houses we have lived in for a long time

Well its a year now since we have started working on Everland. It took a lot of time and energy from everyone involved. But the coolest thing about it is that we didnt give up. Of course there were fights, times when I though I couldnt continue because I didnt have enough... faith? No, faith is not the right word cause if I hadnt had that I would have stopped after few months. I had faith in you, Ozlem and your crew. I would just like to say thanks you, Pepa, Milan, Marketa, thank you a lot Robert.. you all did a lot of work for me and for Ozlems film.

Do you want to know why such a nostalgy? I spent hours watching the photographs from making of... Enough words - here is what we did.. :)

Už je tomu rok, co jsme začali pracovat na Everlandu. Za ten rok jsme zažili mnohé, vzal hodně času a energie všech zúčastněným. Ale nejlepší na tom je, že jsme to nevzdali. Samozřejmě, že byly hádky, chvíle, kdy jsem si myslela, že už nemůžu pokračovat protože jsem neměla dost... víry? Ne, víra asi není to pravé slovo. Kdybych ji neměla, přestala bych hned na začátku. Víru jsem měla - ve vás... No, prostě vám chci jen poděkovat - Pepo, Milane, Markéťáku, díky Roberte - všichni jste udělali ohromný kus dobré práce jak pro Ozlemin film, tak pro mě.

A chcete vědět proč ta nostalgie? Zítra mě čeká velký rozhovor se Skaunicem o budoucnosti Everlandu. Tak jsem ted několik hodin strávila prohlížením fotek..

Analog Everland

We appreciate the advices of Mr. Kolář for low light, who recommended this professional material Fuji Neopan 1600 and the Push processing which allowed higher sensitivity (3200!). So we could underexpose and have better results.

how i pay my crew a.k.a. Pepa the Cowboy

as i mentioned on my blog, we came to an understanding that i'll be paying my crew their wages as their very own puppets. and here is pepa with his miniature puppet cowboy pepa.
the western house and the rocking chair (the one the puppet is sitting on) were all meda by pepa himself. so, who else could've been the owner of those in everland but him?

Everland is coming alive again

Although we had some problems last week we don't give up. There are still people whose wishes didn't become real - neither ours - we believe in the film so much.

As our shooting continues Everland grows. New stories, new characters appear. They're living creatures I really do think so. Look at this video and check :)

Ačkoliv jsme minulý týden měli menší problémy, nevzdáváme to. Pořád jsou kolem nás lidi, jejichž přání nebyla naplněna - stejně jako ta naše - tak zkrátka v ten film tolik věříme.

Jak natáčení pokračuje, Everland roste. Objevují se nové postavy, nové příběhy. Opravdu se domnívám, že jsou živí. Podívejte se na video a uvidíte sami :)

Ha, the lights..

We saw this amazing window and decided to make our own miniature one.. Haha kiding, this is the miniature one. You can see that in the next picture.

Viděli jsme tohle hezké okénko a rozhodli se taky jedno udělat.. Haha, dělám si srandu - tohle je to námi vytvořené. Můžete se o tom přesvědčit na dalším obrázku.

The Lovely Café

There was a wish of one young lady to have a lovely café. And as you can fulfill your wishes in Everland our crew decided to make one. Its mostly Milans work. But watching the process of making the set itself is really cool.

Jedna mladá dáma si přála míti krásnou kavárnu. A protože v Everlandu se vaše přání stávají skutečností, náš štáb jednu takovou kavárnu vyrobil. Je to z většiny Milanova práce. Ale zpětně se dívat na to, jak jsme stavěli scénu, to je opravdu neuvěřitelné :)

And so the stories have taken their place in Everland.

A tak se v Everlandu pomalu začaly odehrávat příběhy.

How to make a hill

Yeah, the hill. Its 2,5m x 2m slowly raising up to 45cm. It took us 2 days just to cover it with toilet paper (about 12 rolls) + glue (more than 6 kilos) + flour (not even a pack). Then we used that special kind of grass dust which people making train models use. Well now we're making trees, flowers, stones and more miniature stuff to decore it.

We will show you the result in next blog entry. And maybe also a video of making of a desert.

Ha, kopec. Je ho 2,5m x 2m, pomalu stoupá do 45cm. Dva dny nám zabralo jenom pokrývání ho toaletním papírem (asi 12 roliček) + lepidlem (víc než 6 kilo) + moukou (ani ne balíček). Potom jsme použili speciální druh travnatého prachu jako používají železniční modeláři. Momentálně vyrábíme stromy, kytičky, kameny a další mikro věci, abychom kopec zaplnili.

Výsledek vám ukážeme v dalším příspěvku.. a s ním možná i další video jak udělat poušť :)

You wouldnt guess this is a hand-made house.. Looks so real.. Marketa's work..

Neuhádli byste, že je to ručně dělaný domeček, že ne? Vypadá tak reálně. Markétina práce..

See.. This is how our "real street" looks.. the scale is 1:12 meaning that 12 real centimeters is 1 cm in Everland..

Vidíte, takhle vypadá ulice v pravém světe.. měřítko je 1:12, což znamená že 12 cm ve skutečnosti je 1cm v Everlandu..

my dearest crew, friends, romans;

i probably should have written (or even better, said in person) what i'm about to write, a very long time ago. but then again, better late than never, right?

i know that i haven't been able to express my excitement  enough, about how things are working out. and if you haven't noticed, let me break the news for you; i've always felt kind of bad for getting help for some reason. but it's completely different this time. i can't even describe your parts in the whole process as "help" only, it's so much more. and yes, i don't feel bad. at all.

frankly, i've never experienced anything so cooperative, so collaborative, so creative, so productive, so enthusiastic, so... so much in my whole life. things have been way beyond my imagination, especially for the last few weeks. and even though i have no idea how this all happened in the first place, i just couldn't be any happier than i already am with how and where things are going.

so, thank you. thank you a lot. nothing would be how they are or even better than they are right now if it wasn't for you.

thank you for sticking around.

thank you for enjoying.

thank you for dreaming.

thank you for believing, even more than i do from time to time.

He's OK, just sad..

His wife went shopping or maybe somewhere else.. He realized that she's missing after couple days starving.. and sad.

Jeho žena šla možná nakoupit, možná taky kamkoliv jinam.. On to zjistil až po několika dnech hladovění a smutku..

update on the zombie incident

so, i took him for a walk to the graveyard of the unfinished puppets. even being a zombie and all, he was terrified. he promised to behave himself and not to chase after me anymore.
all is good now.

Tak jsem ho vzala na procházku po hřbitůvku nedokončených loutek. I když to byl takový zombík, uplně se viděsil. Slíbil, že se už bude chovat slušně. Všechno je teď v pohodě.

oh and one more thing..

New week ahead

Ou jeee, another week of 60 shooting hours is just starting.. Lets hope we will finish the flat scenes and move a bit more to Everland ! And also hope that Özlem will have enough energy for everything :)

Jooo, další týden a jeho 60 natáčecích hodin je před námi! Doufejme, že dokončíme všechny scény v bytě a posuneme se zase kousek blíž k Everlandu. A taky doufejme, že Özlem z toho ještě nejebe ;)

Joo, leták na starožitnictví

Production of sets

Look at the houses we made. Aren't they beatiful? It's work mainly of Milan and Petra, students of classic animation ( bachelor program). A lot of people helped and are helping. We still have a lot of work ahead because the world of Everland is wonderful and also enormous place.

Tady se můžete podívat na domečky, které jsme vyrobili. Pěkné, že? ;) Většinou je to práce Milana a Peti, studentů klasické animace na UTB. Ale i tak pomáhá hodně lidí. Pořád máme spoustu práce před sebou, protože svět v Everlandu bude ohromné místo co do krásy i do rozměrů.

Next real shooting day

.. some photos from another shooting and exhausting day are here.. i will start to build something from empty tins of energy drinks (nobody from the crew actually appreciated this great idea ;)

.. tady je pár fotek z dalšího natáčecího a neskutečně vyčerpávajícího dne.. mám v plánu postavit nějakou skulpturu z prázdných plechovek od energydrinků (nikdo ostatní z tohoto nápadu takové nadšení neprojevil;)

The flat of young couple is just lovely. And our characters either.

Byt našeho mladého párečku vypadá moc hezky, stejně jako naše hlavní postavy.

Everyone knows that puppets made by Özlem Akin are small, full of little details and really nice. What's new is that they can speak! They have different chins which Özlem changes during the shooting frame by frame, spell by spell.

Každý ví, že loutky od Özlem Akin jsou malé, plné mikroskopických detailů a dohromady moc hezké. Žhavou novinkou ovšem je, že už umí i mluvit ! Mají několik různých bradiček, které Özlem vyměnuje frame po framu, hlásku po hlásce.

First shooting day, first pictures

This is the firts set (set in 50') we shot. You can see a puppet handmade by Özlem (jak jinak,že:), furniture is made by her either. Robert made a lot of really nice books which contain a real story and pictures inside. Unfortunately they are not visible in this picture.

Toto je první scéna, kterou jsme natáčeli, ve stylu padesátých let. Můžete vidět ručně dělané loutky a nábytek od Özlem Akin. Robert udělal spoustu miniaturních knížek, z nichž některé obsahují opravdový příběh.

Drahos will edit the pictures during the shooting, sound will be done the same way.. so the postproduction is a part of production in our project :) Funny thing is the webcam in next picture. We have a lot of problems with technical equipment - lens, programs crushes even the tripots arent fully functional.

Drahoš bude stříhat záběry během natáčení, stejně tak Martin Beck bude průběžně dělat zvuk. Pro náhled musíme používat webku, obecně máme problémy s technikou - objektiv, padají nám programy, dokonce ani stativy na světla pořádně nefungují.
